Intentional Car Time

I did it to myself. My son goes to a private Spanish school on one side of town and my preschooler goes on the other near my house. I realize I am in the car at least 80 minutes-120 minutes a day. Once this realization came to me, I decided I would not flip down the blessed God sent TV that is a part of our minivan but instead make that time INTENTIONAL. Since we decided on a Spanish school instead of a Christian school, I wanted to be purposeful with a strong foundation at home in our faith. Here are a few things we do every day in the car

1- We listen to kid worship music, Spanish worship music, peppy upbeat worship music and just some good worship songs where you want to raise your hands and shout praises (We listen to spotify)

2- Listen to Spanish CDS in the car. We have several, my favorite one is Hop, Skip, and Sing Spanish

3- Science podcast for kids. My girls who are 2 and 4 don’t care about it but my 6 year old son loves listening about bats, volcanos and the solar system. We listen to TUMBLE on my podcast app

4- Bible story podcast for kids. There are multiple ones if you just type it in the search bar.

Now that we are a few months into the school year we have found our groove. There’s been a handful of times I flipped on Veggie-tales, Baby Praise or Pippi Long-stocking in the car when the 2 year old has been screaming, but I would say 9 out of 10 times we stick to those 4 ideas above. I LOVE that in a 20 minute car ride they hear a new bible story, learn something new or raise their little hands in the back worshipping. Moms with multiple kids who drive everywhere, you have my deep respect. This driving and drop off and pick off thing is no joke. I’m sending you a virtual high five right now. Let’s look at our schedules and see where we can be more purposeful.
